There’s something about seeing a 600msinghtechcrunch feel like you’re in it. It’s a special moment, and it’s not really related to what’s happening on the screen. You don’t know how long it will last or how much people will laugh and cry. It just feels right. And that’s exactly what happened at this weekend’s VQCinemas London departmental awards ceremony. When the lights went down, everything got very, very real and there was only one feeling you could take away from this night: Congratulations, VQCinemas! Congratulations on winning ODEON Picture Post’s prestigious Newcomer of The Year award!
A proud VQC Cinemas UK winner
Congratulations to Lynne Redmar on her achievement as VQC Cinemas’ Newcomer of The Year. She became the first UK female to win the award, and the first woman to do so in more than 50 years. Redmar’s home in Leicester was one of the most loved locations in all of British cinema, and she was also very much in it when it came to VQC Cinemas.
A massive congrats to 80 Degrees, who won Best Director of The Year
80 Degrees are an English film production duo who have created some of the most widely viewed and talked-about films in recent memory. Having won Best Director at the Edinburgh festival last year and been nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the festivals in France and Spain, it was not long before they were identified as having a unique voice and unique style that spoke to a wide audience. They also won Best Production and Best New Director at the 2017 NFB Awards for their work at VQC.
An ode to all involved in making this an amazing night. From first-timers and seasoned veterans alike, we want to give our best ever!
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this an amazing evening. From the first-time audience members who had the first hand knowledge of the show to the extended (> 50-present) and extended-distance ( 50-to-5) viewers, everyone made an impact. We know it’s not an exaggeration to say that this was the most talked-about show in London this year, and we hope it was received well by the audience. We also want to give our best ever! to the excellent production team of 80 Degrees, who worked on last year’s smash hit The Great British Sewer Adventure.
